AVATAR Blu-Ray DVD Problems and Fixes
The good news is AVATAR is out on Blu-Ray and DVD to a whole lot of fun and fanfare. The bad news is the disc won't play properly on the popular Samsung BD-UP5000 Blu-Ray player for many viewers. Some owners of the DVD are reporting a pop-up box that shows the chapters appears during the movie and can't be closed. Others are getting a red screen warning that the disc won't play because the system needs a "firmware update." In classic AVATAR fashion, the disc is apparently more advanced than some of the players.
Has the screen frozen on you? If so, your nearly new DVD player needs a firmware update already because of the AVATAR disc's "advanced" digital rights management (DRM) software. And here's the upgrade. You can read more details about other reported problems in the AVS forums and on Crunchbase. Meanwhile the studios wonder why record-breaking piracy of Blu-Ray movies like AVATAR continues from torrent sites.

I am actually not able to play the DVD on a Sony SLV-D36P but it will play on a LG player. Does anyone have any help on this?
